Magneti Marelli
At Magneti Marelli I was employed as Senior Software Engineer and joined the R&D team after TECMobility intellectual property was purchased with the aim to develop the best Car Infotainment System experience ever made.
Car Infotainment Systems were starting to appear on prestigious car manufacturers and I led the project of a very complex system whereby A/C, Mobile, Sat Nav, Radio, CD/DVD player and SRS were all integrated into a single UI.
I designed the Hardware Abstraction Layer to port the existing single-threaded DOS device drivers into multi-threaded VxWorks device drivers framework within the ambitious deadline and budget eventually securing the company with the Alfa Romeo 147 OEM contract.
Wind River noticed my skills when in just three days I fixed a fundamental driver issue with a graphics chip after their engineers were being stuck for about four months trying to find a suitable solution.
Eventually Wind River offered me a position within the Architectural Design Engineering department in the UK.
TECMobility
TECMobility was a start-up company aiming to develop a Sat Nav System for the after market and a complete fleet management solution for Police, Ambulance and Fire Fighter.
At TECMobility, short for Telematic Technology for Traffic Management, I was employed as Senior Software Engineer.
During my time at TECMobility I contributed to make “Route Planner”, the very first Sat Nav product in Europe.
I was the lead embedded engineer responsible for the hardware bring-up and software development of all device drivers, graphics library, maps compression library and Human Machine Interface.
In only seven months the concept became a product and was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show gaining huge interest by the car OEM industry.
